Myler Western Bit HBT Shank with Medium Wide Port Comfort Snaffle

Myler Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank with Sweet Iron Medium Wide Port Comfort Snaffle Copper Inlay Mouth Bit. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. It is harmless to horses and has a sweet taste that promotes salivation.

 

Level: Three
Design: The shank consists of a length of metal with two rings and a fixed mouhtpiece attachment. The length of metal below the mouthpiece is round and bent at an angle toward the rider’s hands. The mouthpiece is curved with a low ported center barrel. 1 1/4" Port.
Function:
  • Shanks are used for leverage and usually with a curb strap or chain. Depending on which mouthpiece is used, backward and upward pressure on the reins transfers into a downward pressure on the poll, pressure on the curb, and forward and downward pressure on the palate. The tops of the cheekpiece that are attached to the headstall are bent away from the horse to prevent discomfort or rubbing.
  • Puts pressure on corners and tops of bars.
  • Collapses slightly on lips.
  • No tongue or palate pressure on most horses.
  • Independent Side Movement.
