Myler Western Bit HBT Shank with Sweet Iron Comfort Snaffle with Copper Roller
This Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank with Comfort Snaffle™ with Copper Roller and Copper Inlay Mouth is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation. Copper roller and inlay also promote salivation and more ready acceptance of the bit.

| Design: The shank consists of a length of metal with two rings and a fixed mouhtpiece attachment. The mouthpiece is curved with 1 1/4 inch jointed center barrel with a copper roller. This western bit is a nice alternative to the Snaffle or Bristol mouthpiece. The Independent Side Movement design allows a rider to isolate one side and lift the shoulder of the horse. Working off the tongue and bars, the comfort snaffle with a copper roll is a good choice for young horses learning to bend and balance. |
Function:
- Shanks are used for leverage and, typically, with a curb strap or chain. Depending upon the mouthpiece used, backward and upward pressure on the reins transfers into downward pressure on the poll, pressure on the curb, and forward and downward pressure on the palate. The tops, or purchases are bent away from the horse to prevent discomfort or rubbing.
